Red Rock Rave 1: A Weekend to Remember

If you were at the SCVA Red Rock Rave 1 in Las Vegas this past weekend, you know just how electrifying the atmosphere was. For those who couldn't make it, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered with a recap of the unforgettable moments (plus some fun snapshots from our photo booth). 

Friday Night: The Marki Unsigned Showcase

Imagine a gym buzzing with energy, filled with 200 aspiring athletes and 100 college coaches and recruiters, all there for one purpose: to discover the next volleyball stars. That was the scene at the Marki Unsigned Showcase. Each session lasted just over an hour. Girls were grouped by position and then divided into teams to participate in 6 on 6 drills designed to showcase their skills. For many, it could be the start of a new direction in their volleyball journey, potentially leading to playing at the collegiate level.

Recruiters were on the sidelines, watching closely and taking notes. This event was more than just a showcase; it was a golden opportunity for young athletes to get in front of college coaches and make a lasting impression. 

Valuable Info for Parents

While the girls were busy showcasing their skills, parents had their own enriching experience. They attended an informational recruiting seminar featuring insights from college coaches, former athletes, and recruiting experts. Our very own recruiting success manager, Denise Finnestead, shared her personal journey and offered up tips for parents navigating the recruitment process. Special thanks to Coach Fran Flory of the Vegas Thrill, Coach Mitch Kallick of CITY Volleyball Club, Empower Recruiting, Marki, and SCVA for putting on such a valuable event. Parents left better prepared to support their young athletes in their pursuit of collegiate volleyball.

The Tournament

96 courts. 839 teams. 7,743 athletes. Wow.

The tournament was nothing short of spectacular! More than 800 teams battled it out on the courts, showcasing what skill and determination looks like. The competition was fierce! 

Notable moments included a nailbiting match between the 17s teams, GSI and Empire, that went 42-40! Whaaaat?!

The gym was packed with cheering fans and players giving it their all. It was a true testament to the spirit of volleyball and the dedication of these young athletes.

As the tournament wrapped up, awards were given for outstanding performances. The camaraderie and sportsmanship displayed by all teams made this event a memorable one for everyone involved.

Vertical Testing

At the College Recruits booth some amazing young ladies tested their approach touch, with several joining the 10ft club! Wow! The record was set by Wake Forest University commit Kelis Hawkins from Rancho 18 Premier at a staggering 10'6"! Incredible!

Fun at the Photo Booth

One of the fun highlights of the weekend was undoubtedly the photo booth! With props galore and a vibrant backdrop, athletes had a blast capturing their favorite moments with friends and teammates. From silly poses to fierce team shots, the photo booth was a hub of laughter and creativity.

Participants left with fun keepsakes to remember the event, and many shared their photos on social media, spreading the joy of the weekend far and wide. It was a perfect way to capture the spirit of Red Rock Rave 1 and the connections made during the event.
